Greetings:

I am trying to take the MLA Web 2.0 101 online course at home on an older laptop with a dial-up connection. I am using this wiki to share some of what I have learned.

1. Have LOTS of patience.
2. Have a terrific sense of humor.
3. Use something better and faster than Explorer - it will really make a difference! Mozilla Foxfire gave me
much better results.
4. If you don't succeed at first, try again later.
5. If the system asks you if you want to switch to basic HTML - say YES!!! You don't need all the fancy displays
to do what you need to do.
6. If you need to watch a video, upload a photo, or anything else that will take LOTS OF TIME, get it started and
go do something else. I recommend going out to dinner, with a coupon, of course. Hopefully your results will
be waiting for you when you return.
7. Open more than one tab, so you can pull relevant info from one program into another.
8. Use del.icio.us to keep track of everything.
9. If you're stuck, check to see if someone else posted the problem - and the solution.
10. If you're stuck, ask someone you see (co-worker, hubby) for help.
11. If you're still stuck, leave a message in the questions. Don't worry - you're probably not the only one who had
the problem.

Hi. I'm an older medical librarian who is trying to learn about the Web 2.0 technologies. The MLA Web 2.0 101 course is perfect, but I need to do the work at home, where we have dial-up Internet access. It is a challenge.
This is my first wiki, which follows my first blog. I will mainly be talking about my experiences with the course, but maybe I'll have some links to other resources.
